The main sport played in Austria is Football followed by Skiing
If you happen to be one of those special persons who have chosen field hockey as their game, you’ll be happy to discover a very active scene in Austria. Centered in, but not restricted to, Vienna, you’ll find a combination of both sides of that great sport: You want to get serious and competitive – you’re in the country that won the European Indoor Championships in 2010, got third in the Indoor World Cup in 2011 and third again in the European Indoor Championships in 2012. In the classic outdoor game Austria is currently not quite as succesful, but still ranks among the top countries on the continent – and is working on more! The same can be said about our club teams, that regularly end up on top of various European competitions. And you just might be part of one of those European adventures.
But if you happen to be more interested in the famous socializing side of hockey, you’re at the right place nonetheless. Several beautifully located clubs all over the city will be more than happy to welcome you in any of team and introduce you to that special Viennese mentality. Regular parties at the clubs and an exciting nightlife in Vienna will make sure, you’re entertained and fit. And your new club mates will surely be happy to take you along.
The season starts approximately when your university courses begin, and it ends just when you’re finished with whatever it is you came here for. To be more precise, we start with our outdoor season sometime in September, make an indoor break from November to March and then get back to finishing our outdoor competitions.

Choose the club that suits you best and just turn up at one of their practices or parties – whatever it is that you prefer. You’ll feel at home. And that’s a promise!!
