Vienna has a big, thrilling and colorful club scene. Clubs are conveniently located throughout the city. Partygoers can choose from diverse scenes such as the City Rail Arches located under the U6 line; a party strip at Vienna’s amusement park Prater in the 2nd district; the so-called “Bermuda Triangle” in the 1st district aptly named for the ability of revelers to “lose themselves” in the clubs, or Mariahilferstrasse and its surrounding streets with door to door clubs.
The Viennese nightlife provides all different kinds of music, styles and locations. Whether you like electronic or rock music, prefer elegant, chic and cool stylings or yearn for an alternative scene, want to listen to live bands or desire the beats of a DJ, Vienna has it all for you. Experience unique and historical locations such as former cinemas, theatres, palaces or manufacturing buildings.
Vienna may be known for its rich classical music history; however, Vienna has recently become associated with electronic sounds thanks to acts like Kruder and Dorfmeister who have brought the Viennese chill-out and downtempo sound into the world. Techno, disco-beats, house, drum and bass, trance and minimal techno are also widely available in Viennese clubs.
The biggest club in Vienna is "Praterdome" with a huge croud and an amazing light system and a famous lasershow.
Thursdays are positioned as the "international students clubbing"
"Feels like home" offer: With your membercard you don't pay cover the whole night and even get a €10 drink voucher for free on Thursdays, on Friday you also get the drink voucher!

The fancy clubs in Vienna are "Volksgarten", "Passage" and "The Box" which is located in the Hilton Hotel.
The main music played in these clubs are House and R&B.
If you go to one of these clubs be sure to be dressed accordingly (This rule especially applies for guys! --> propper shoes, long trousers & button-down shirt) and don't show up too drunk to stand straight. The bouncers are pretty strict about that.
A cool place to be especially in the summer is "Volksgarten" - one of the oldest clubs in Vienna with a nice garden and a roof that can be opened to refresh the party croud.
If you prefer a more alternative style and not care about dresscodes but enjoy heartbeating drum&bass music, FLEX is the place for you! Flex is know for its sound system and alternative party croud.
The feels like home partyweek recommendation:
Monday: KJU
Tuesday: LUTZ, FLEX or U4 (always extremely crouded - be prepared to line up!)
Wednesday: Passage

Friday: Box, Passage, Volksgarten
Saturday: Volksgarten, U4, Passage

Traditionally people in Vienna meet at bars at around 9 for pre-gaming and enter clubs at around 12:00 (See our section "bars" for more info and recommendations)
Clubs close around 4 o'clock - depending on the number of people left.
For the people who can't get enough there are few places that offer "after hour" parties.
These places start getting crouded around 3-4 and you can party there until 10 o'clock in the morning.
Goodmans and SASS are two "nicer" after hour clubs with mainly electronic music while "Stadl" is a small bar that plays "Schlager" music and kept in a rustic style.
For people who want to experience the "apres skiing" feeling in Vienna should go to "Bettelalm" Its one of the few clubs that don't charge cover. In the club you'll find an older audience and mainly Schlager, Oldies and Pop music. If you are hungry after a party there you can walk right into the next door and enjoy the great breakfasts that are offered there starting at 4:00 am in the morning!
You love Salsa, Merengue, Tango etc? That calls for "Floridita". Floridita is the best latin club in Vienna with hip-moving sounds and hot-blooded dancers! There is no cover charge at the door and you can enjoy great cocktails!
Vienna has always been a meeting point between the west and the east. So if you want to experience some shaking balcan sounds, "Club Ost" ist the place to go! Founded in 2005, Ost Klub established itself as Vienna’s number one club for Balkanian beats and music acts. Dominated by mostly Balkan sounds, the music and the architecture of Club Ost is very special. The club consists of two floors and is a maze of interconnecting rooms. The basement floor hosts frequently bands from many different genres such as Gypsy, balkanian, ska, reggae, Austrian folk, ska, dub, reggae, latin, blues or rock music. While enjoying live music in the small concert hall you can listen to live DJ sets in the first floor. An eclectic range of artists, bands, DJs and guests play on regular weekly rotation. Club Ost hosts numerous festivals including the Balkan Fever Festival. Cover charges apply and range from € 3 up to € 15 depending on the party and concerts taken place, but it’s worth the entry.
